Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is reported to be on the cusp of a sale next summer as part of Eric ten Hag’s ongoing renewal to the Red Devils.
Ten Hag has made three deals since arriving at Old Trafford this summer, adding Terrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen to his squad, but he’s still far from completing his perfect squad.
The Manchester United coach confirmed that Maguire will continue to lead the Red Devils this season despite the poor performance last season, and told the media that “Maguire is the captain” when asked who will take the captaincy.

but according to Football TransfersThat could change next summer, as Maguire is one of the three first-team players free to leave even 12 months before they leave.
“Maguire, who was recently appointed captain of Ten Hague, is the most prominent name expected to be available for the move after the completely disappointing 2021/22 season,” they reported. “Likewise, Brazil international Fred is one of those players the club feels they can return, while in-form striker Anthony Martial is another player set to be allowed to leave.”
These changes, while drastic, will have to wait until at least next summer after the mass exodus that has already taken place before the 2022/23 campaign, with eight players already leaving Old Trafford, and likely to follow.
The likes of Eric Bailey, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Phil Jones and Alex Telles are all believed to be free to leave, should suitable offers come in for the defenders.
