Antonio Conte reveals what Tottenham can learn from losing Brighton

Antonio Conte has opened up about what he feels the Spurs players can learn from their 1-0 loss at Brighton.

Tottenham faced the Seagulls at the start of the Premier League on Saturday and headed into the match as the favorites after dominating the likes of Newcastle and Everton in recent times.

However, when all was said and done in north London, a late Leandro Trossard goal was enough to secure Brighton’s victory.

Now, Conte suggested that against the backdrop of their defeat, his team should learn that “if you can’t win, you can’t lose”:

“It’s definitely not a good result for us and a lesson we can learn today is that there are games that if you can’t win, you can’t lose.” She said. “It was very clear that today was not our day, but I understand we wanted to try to get three points because it was very important for us to get three points ahead of our competitors in the Champions League race.

“Sometimes we need to feel. The match today was very difficult because it was a tactical match for both sides. Brighton were very good at closing all the spaces, but we helped our opponent because we moved the ball slowly. We are able to do a lot better than we are doing today.”

Tottenham hopes for the Champions League

Tottenham’s loss to Brighton once again blasted the race for the top four wide open.

Manchester United won on Saturday, while Arsenal lost, meaning there are now only three points separating the three clubs in the Premier League table.

Tottenham still boasts an advantage as it sits 4y With the best goal difference, but Conte will pray to God that the club’s defeat by Brighton is just a moment, not the beginning of a downward spiral.
