After Arsenal lost their third in the jump and fourth in five league matches, Mikel Arteta appears to have dropped a big transfer tip ahead of the summer transfer window.
Arsenal’s recruitment over the past 18 months has been impressive compared to the previous two or three years.
Last summer was particularly impressive, with Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale smoothly entering Arsenal’s first eleven and both future Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lukonga players.
However, after the loss to Southampton, Arteta lamented Arsenal’s lack of world-class players who have done so in the Premier League:
“That’s what we have,” the former Manchester City assistant coach She said. “The players we have, they haven’t done that in this league.
“When you have world-class players who have done that in the league for ten years, I would probably say that. I am the first to defend them, I support them, and you see how they try.
“The only way to do that is to insist, and what happened today may happen the next day or the next month.”

Arsenal need experience
Arteta’s comments make a lot of sense and while Arsenal look set for a bright future with the likes of Bucayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Ben White and more, there is a real lack of experience in their squad now. .
Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette are the only real two choices in the first eleven.
However, it’s fair to say that Xhaka could be something of a loose cannon, while Lacazette’s contract expires in the summer.
Therefore, it seems clear that Arsenal need to invest in one or two top players with a lot of experience in the Premier League, preferably at the top level.
