Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is set to brush aside any interest from Manchester United in favor of staying at the club this summer, according to reports.
For the second summer in a row, it appeared that speculation about the north London striker’s exchange for Manchester would dominate Spurs’ transfer proceedings.
Kane publicly wanted out of Spurs in the summer of 2021, but was let down because Manchester City could not match the valuation that Lillywhites chairman Daniel Levy had imposed on the striker, believed to be as much as £150m.
After a slow start to the season, with Kane appearing to be disappointed with the club he was forced to stay at, the Englishman has found some of his best form under Antonio Conte, a manager he has been very excited to work with.
This has since led to speculation that Manchester United are ready to pounce on the striker this summer. But, according to the mirrorKane is ready to nip such ties in the bud by committing to his future after Tottenham’s summer transfer window.
Tin Hag why?
According to the report, the fact that the new coach at Old Trafford will be Erik ten Hag, and not former Tottenham player Mauricio Pochettino, played a big role in the decision. Kane has become one of the best strikers in world football under the latter’s guidance, while Tin Hag is perhaps a long-term gambled by the Manchester United hierarchy.
Although not yet confirmed, the Ajax coach is widely assumed to be the next man on the Red Devils’ bench list.
Jon Cross reports that Ten Hag did not ultimately attract Harry Kane in the same way that Pochettino would have considered, for whom the striker may have even thought of losing Champions League football.
“Even if United missed out on the Champions League, bringing Pochettino might give them a real chance to attract Kane to Old Trafford,” Kroos says.
Now, however, the Red Devils might have to look elsewhere.
