Jurgen Klopp issues injury update on star Liverpool pair ahead of FA Cup semi-final

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Diogo Jota has a ‘good chance’ to get back in shape in the FA Cup semi-final match with Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, after the Portuguese forward had a scare against Benfica.

The Reds fought a 3-3 draw with the Portuguese team at Anfield in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, which was enough to qualify on aggregate and book their place in the semi-finals against perennial underdog Villarreal.

And just three days later, they play another semi-final as they look to keep their quadruple hopes alive, as they face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final, a week after a 2-2 draw between the two sides.

Whichever team loses, will end its hopes in history, as Manchester City seeks a hat-trick, and Liverpool themselves go to the unprecedented quartet, having already lifted the League Cup in February.

The Reds will be bolstered by the return of Jota and Mohamed Salah, both of whom appeared to take the hits against the Portuguese League side.

Manchester City faces their own injury problems

There may be more good news for Liverpool fans, as Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker were forced out of the Champions League quarter-final against Atletico Madrid, with what appeared to be ankle injuries.

Guardiola admitted after the draw that led to his team qualifying on aggregate: “We played three days ago, we traveled, we came here, we have a lot of injuries now and I don’t know what will happen in the coming weeks.”
