Tottenham and Manchester United set to battle it out for England international

Tottenham and Manchester United are preparing for an international battle with the England national team

Tottenham and Manchester United are set to battle the services of England international goalkeeper Sam Johnston this summer, according to reports.

The West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper’s contract expires in the summer, and he is not expected to sign a new deal with the Midlands, leaving on free in July.

And while he was closely associated with his move last summer, no such change has appeared on the scene for the 29-year-old, with Arsenal opting to sign Aaron Ramsdale at West Bromwich Albion No. 1.

But despite this, his stock has not fallen, and both Manchester United and Tottenham are looking for a new goalkeeper No. 2, having identified the free transfer as a good option.

Their current No. 2 future

Spurs’ current deputy goalkeeper Pierluigi Giulini has failed to impress since joining the north London side on loan from Atalanta, and it appears almost certain that Spurs would choose not to activate their 15 million pound option to buy the Italian. .

For Manchester United, Dean Henderson appears to have gone out the door, with David de Gea’s resurgence in stopping his shot, if not his passing, limiting the Englishman to a place on the bench for most of the season.

It’s no surprise, then, that they are both looking for a low-cost remedy to their problems, with plenty of other issues to be addressed before they can become both sides of the title challenge again.
