Lots of players put in a quality performance for their team, not least in the lively match between Manchester City and Liverpool which saw both teams exit by a point from the Etihad.
There was plenty of entertainment elsewhere too, with Tottenham, Chelsea and Leeds United winning by three or more goals. Although not a good weekend to be a defender, the attackers had a field day.
Here’s who makes 101 team of the week.
Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
In the end, what turned out to be a 4-0 win for Spurs could have been very different had it not been for the veteran goalkeeper. The Spurs captain made a series of superb saves in the first half to keep the score 1-0, which Spurs finally took advantage of in the second half.

Right-back: Seamus Coleman (Everton)
The left side of Manchester United’s attack, whether Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford or Anthony Ilanga, was kept very calm as his side snatched the spoils 1-0. Despite his advanced age, he is still a valuable choice for Frank Lampard.
Central Defence: Liam Cooper (Leeds United)
All focus has been on the absences of Calvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford this season, but Leeds United are equally reliant on captain Liam Cooper, whose return has been most welcome. His comeback saw him keep a clean sheet in his 3-0 win over Watford.
Despite playing only 17 Premier League games this season, Liam Cooper has won 26 air games more than any other Leeds player (71 in total) and won yesterday against Watford. Leeds conceded only one goal in his last 396 minutes on the pitch. #lufc pic.twitter.com/KuUAWhqTiR

Central Defence: Dan Byrne (Newcastle United)
Eyebrows raised when Newcastle brought on Dan Byrne on the day of the transfer deadline, but he repaid the confidence he displayed in spades, improving Newcastle’s defense immeasurably.
Left-back: Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)
Alonso, after being dropped from the squad against Real Madrid in midweek, showed how important he is to Thomas Tuchel with his performance against Southampton. He grabbed the opening goal and posed a constant threat.
CM: Enoch Mwepo (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Man of the Match against Arsenal, Mwebo has seen limited playing time for Brighton this season but has turned the show at the Emirates Stadium. Capped by a fine performance with an equally luxurious goal to double Al Nawras’ lead.
Poison: Mason Mount (Chelsea)
Mount hasn’t made headlines this season as much as in the past, but he has remained under the radar as one of the division’s best players to date. This was confirmed by two goals against Southampton.
Midfield: Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
The show ran against Liverpool, unlucky enough to be forced to settle for a point share. He scored the opening game and had it not been for a few missed finishes from his teammates, he could have scored more.
Right winger: Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur)
Harry Kane Heung Min Son’s telepathy continues to shine, but it was the Korean who stole the headlines with a superb hat-trick against Aston Villa.

Premier League (premierleague) April 10 2022
With both men fired, Tottenham would lose a place in the top four.
Attacker: Timo Werner (Chelsea)
Werner hasn’t had a good time since joining Chelsea in 2020, but he did spend a field day against Southampton, netting himself two goals that could have been doubled had it not been for Saints’ goal.
Could this be a turning point?
LW: Anthony Gordon
The only torch shining in the sea of darkness for Everton In recent weeks, the youngster proved the main threat and ultimately made the difference as the Toffees took a massive step towards safety, achieving the only goal against Manchester United.
